Los Consejeros Genéticos son profesionales de la salud que brindan orientación a individuos y familias sobre los riesgos de enfermedades hereditarias y genéticas. Este puesto implica realizar evaluaciones genéticas, interpretar los resultados de las pruebas y ayudar a los clientes a comprender las implicaciones médicas, psicológicas y familiares de los trastornos genéticos. Los consejeros genéticos trabajan en colaboración con médicos, especialistas y laboratorios para proporcionar una atención integral, ayudando a las personas a tomar decisiones informadas sobre su salud y la de sus futuras generaciones.
Responsabilidades del Puesto
- Realizar evaluaciones detalladas de antecedentes médicos familiares para identificar riesgos genéticos.
- Explicar los resultados de las pruebas genéticas y ayudar a los clientes a comprender las implicaciones de los mismos.
- Brindar apoyo emocional y educativo a los clientes que enfrentan diagnósticos genéticos complejos.
- Desarrollar planes de atención personalizados, en colaboración con médicos y otros profesionales de la salud.
- Proporcionar orientación a parejas que estén considerando tener hijos, explicando los posibles riesgos genéticos para sus descendientes.
- Mantenerse actualizado sobre los avances en la genética médica y las nuevas pruebas disponibles para mejorar el asesoramiento a los pacientes.
